Living for the ‘Now’ is no easy feat

Sometimes I find that my passion for travel (and travel writing) becomes all-consuming. At times, it seems that every waking second is spent researching, planning and dreaming about my next big adventure. One of my weak points, and I admit I do have many, is my inability to live in the present moment. While I do enjoy my life on a day-to-day basis, I often find myself watching the sunrise at my local beach and wondering how nice it would be to be experiencing it from a distant land where the people don’t speak english and the food tastes different.

While I make no apologies for being a dreamer, I am conscious of the fact that I need to stop planning ahead so much and enjoy what I have in front of me. I am blessed that I live in a place where the wonders of nature are in abundance.

With this in mind, I have collected some of my favourite photos from the last few weeks. These shots were taken as I went about my everyday business, whether that be my religious morning swim, afternoon walk or even just pulling the car over on my way to the grocery store.

I hope that by reading this you too can appreciate the small moments of natural beauty and wonder that your everyday life can bring.

    1. This is something I too have recently realised. I have always known I am lucky to live where I do, however for some reason I have always pursued more. There is a balance there that has to be found.

      1. I have to agree. When I was young I couldn’t wait to move away from my hometown and now I am a little older, and hopefully wiser, I think about moving back there someday and how lucky I was to grow up in such a place.

  1. I am not sure dreaming of the future and other far away places has anything to do with age. I will always be planning the next trip, but I absolutely love whatever I am doing in my free time away from the slog of the job. Beautiful photos.

    1. Losing the ability to dream as I get older would be the end of me! As I get older, the only thing that changes is my ability to reflect on where Ive come from and my everyday and have appreciation for them both.

    1. Thanks a lot! Even at this time of year (winter here) the water is still warm enough to swim, the weather is still sunny and warm enough to get outside and enjoy what nature has to offer.

    1. Hey there. Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the shots! Byron is about an hour south of the Gold Coast. It is just across the border in New South Wales. I love it up there and try and visit every opportunity I can.

    1. I often feel the same way when I am traveling for long periods and see photos or read articles from home. The great news is, it will always be here when you decide to come back for a visit!
