It was my 30th recently and I was lucky enough to receive a GoPro Hero 3 Black edition from my fiance. I have spent the last couple of years wanting to buy a GoPro but just could not justify the $480. But now that someone has bought it for me, I now have my GoPro and still have the cash in the bank!
I am not a very tech-savvy man so I was nervous when faced with the daunting task of setting up my new camera. I quickly discovered however that the GoPro seems to be made for technophobes such as myself. The setup was as simple as charging the battery and playing around with the different capture settings. My advice to anyone purchasing a GoPro is to utilise Youtube as there are countless videos and demos on there to talk you through each of the capture settings.
The week after I got the camera I went on a surf trip up to the mid-north coast of New South Wales with a van full of boards and a few good mates. This gave me the perfect opportunity to put my GoPro through its paces. The result… it passed with flying colours!
Below are some shots taken with the GoPro Hero 3 Black edition. Unfortunately I am unable to post video footage so I have taken a couple of frame grabs from the footage that I shot (you’ll have to excuse the thumb in the shots). I’ll post more pics over the coming months.
Nice little wall about to break.
Nice one!!! We have one as well and love it. We struggled with the short battery life, but have discovered the one-button function. Instead of leaving it on standby waiting to record, you can leave it off and with the touch of one button turn it on and recording at the same time. I highly recommend it.

Great thanks for the tip. I did find the battery life short, especially when I am in the water for a few hours.
Much fun to be had with this little gem!!
