Northern Wandering

After spending too long in the big city, I found myself craving open sky, uncrowded ocean and space to move. Forcing myself into such an environment inspires me to write and to look at the world from a different angle. Stripping away the comforts of the city and immersing myself into nature and the natural world gives me direction and clarity on life. It is an urge my soul craves, yet it is one I don’t give into as often as I should.

Last weekend I packed the car early and drove a few hours up the coast to a place that I have been visiting since I was a child. I have always felt comfortable in this part of the world, where humans and nature become one. Where I can be me.

Below are a few shots from my trip. Travel isn’t always about undertaking long adventures to foreign shores. It is removing yourself from the comfortable environment you call home. Enjoy.

Open space.
Open space.
Big sky.

There was plenty of time to lay in the dunes and wait for the sun to get into position.

  1. Absolutely beautiful photographs! There is nothing quite as serene as wide open spaces and some time away in nature. As of lately I have noticed I enjoy wide open spaces away from it all and I find myself liking the city even less. Maybe it’s getting older or entering a new phase of my life but it’s great to be away from it all!

    1. I am finding myself going in a similar direction. I used to really enjoy time in the city but for a while now I have driven out of the city in the direction of deserted beaches and mountains at every possible chance.
